751696 2009-02-26 21:25:00 Each time I open Word it defaults to the Print Layout screen, which I don't want, and I have to change it back, in View, to Normal. Next time I open Word it defaults back to Print Layout.

I have had a look to see if I can find what or where is causing it, but I can only think it is de-fault of the programme and not de-fault of the operator.:groan:

751697 2009-02-26 21:33:00 You could try removing your normal.dot file Rob99 (151)
751698 2009-02-26 22:15:00 Roscoe - locate your normal.dot file via Windows Explorer, right click on it (make sure no other Word docs are open at the same time) and choose "Open", then change what you need (Print Layout View to Normal View and whatever else you need to adjust), then save it and close it. Next time you open Word it should default to Normal View.

Deleting your normal.dot is a last resort (especially if you have customised it extensively), but Word will recreate a normal.dot if you do have to go that far.

751699 2009-02-26 22:38:00 I suspect you use Word 2003.

When you open Word is this for a new document or for one supplied by another person?

Can't understand how that happened. I did not change it - at least not as far as I know. But it now opens as it should. Ta.

Sweep: You were close. Word 2002. At least that it what is says on the Help About screen.:)

Thanks for the reply. At least it is fixed and you had the decency to tell others what fixed it.

Sweep, I'm from the 'Baby Boomer' era and we had our manners drummed into us. Besides, credit where it's due, eh?
