I think they're a great idea coz it means no USB dongle (for newer laptops anyway). But do they use more power? I am about to buy a laptop and have been looking around for a mouse.I've come up with the following: Logitech MX 400 Performance Laser Mouse (Wired) Logitech LX8 Cordless Laser Mouse Logitech V470 Cordless Laser Mouse (Bluetooth) I've had a quick look through Microsoft's ones as well and they have similar specs. I'm just after a mouse with forward and back buttons and one that can be picked up easily and preferably wireless. |

Have you looked at the Logitech Nano mice? THe USB dongle that they come with is tiny and can be left in all the time without worrying about knocking it. |

I find it great and responsive but of course it has a dongle. I also find the magnify button on it very useful and the battery lasts about 6 months | gary67 (56) | ||

Also- about the back/forward buttons-you can set the tilt functions on the scroll wheel to go back/forward using the included setpoint software |
