| 751149 | 2009-02-24 19:42:00 | Dear Tech Geniuses! I am but a humble Englishman with a problem! Recently my lite-on DVD Writer Drive or Sonic Record Now, Windows Medi Player Burn Facility or/and iTunes Burner has developed a fault. Here's the problem in "brief" Recently when I burn audio CDs the quality on some tracks is skippy and distorted, but the tracks have been written. Even more recently, when I try to burn from Windows Media Player, iTunes or using Sonic Record Now - the progress bar shoots to the end, the drive makes a lot of noise and either eventually says it's burned for me, or ejects and says "an unknown error occured" - don't you just love them? Weird this though - when I try to burn DVDs from .avi files using Sonic's My DVD Creator - the same drive works fine! The last one I burned worked great on the telly and the progress bar and noise output from the drive was normal. The last 4 CD's (audio) I've written will not be recognised by the computor and play poorly in CD players. What I need to know is - is it the drive or (I find this unlikely) all three burning programs? If it's the drive, should I risk replacing it? Please assist me in my woe! Goldie |

| 751150 | 2009-02-24 21:34:00 | Have you tried lowering the burn speed? It may be that Sonic's My DVD creator is burning at a slower speed, and therefore not throwing up errors. Blam |

| 751151 | 2009-02-25 00:06:00 | Thanks for the tip - I did try that though. The discs from a big supermarket chain in the UK, Tesco are 52x speed - so I lowered it to 40x. The same thing happens using all programs - I either get no write or what is written is distorted and will not even register when I try to play it back on the PC or CD players... |
