752605 2009-03-01 23:01:00 I have XP everytime I turn the computer off ( say 5 times a day) it comes up with the turn off computer box and the middle one to click to turn off and update.
I have updates selected to auto daily at 3 pm.
Surely MS isnt updating multi times a day? or is there something wrong with my XP update.
Nothing on AVG, Malwarebytes and spybot runs.
Thanks for any help

752606 2009-03-01 23:10:00 If the updates are getting stuck from installing, even on turning off, download Dial A fix (www.softpedia.com) - install and run it, tick everything, also press the big button " flush Software Distribution" this will wipe out any updates that are there. Go to updates in the control panel and turn off auto updates - reboot- Then go to Windows update manually, and download / install - dont us auto updates at this stage. wainuitech (129)

752608 2009-03-01 23:23:00 The reason I suggest turning off auto updates at the moment is if they try to update again, while manually doing it, they can clash - once all current updates are installed, then you can turn on auto updates again.

Whats the Cause ??? -- Something gets screwed up sometimes, or an update thats meant to be installed before another doesn't finish correctly - can be many reasons.

Wainui maaaaaaate!

When I click link to dial a fix it defaults to regcure or quad ultilities which are register cleaners.
Which one if any do I download thanks for your time.

752612 2009-03-02 01:12:00 Why would you want to update automatically every day?

I update when I want to, not when Microsoft tells me and even then I am particular what ones I let update.

I normally update via AutoPatcher saves a couple of hundred reboots.

Which one if any do I download thanks for your time. EH!!! The link works fine - if you are getting redirected to regcure its possible there are infections in the form of spyware on your PC -IF so that could be causing the update problem as well.

Here is a Direct download link (djlizard.net) - its a zipped file -328Kb. Extract to a folder, there will be two files, double click dial a fix to run --- The page you should be getting from the link I posted is This one from Softpedia (www.imagef1.net.nz).

BUT check for spyware on the PC first.
