752270 2009-02-28 21:58:00 Hi
I’m using Vista Home Premium SP 1
If I’ve used “Computer” to look at the folder structure on a particular drive I can got to TOOLS>FOLDER OPTIONS and there on the GENERAL tab is the option to “Open each folder in its own window". The little icon next to this seems to indicate that the open folders will then be in an overlapping stack like I’ve been used to in XP. In XP I was then able to drag two open folders side by side so that I could compare their contents directly. This doesn’t appear to be happening in Vista even tho’ I’ve got the option selected. The open folders aren’t appearing as stacked and aren’t even appearing separately in the status bar at the bottom of the screen so why not? How can I compare the contents of different folders side by side in Vista?

True.
I always use Windows Explorer and you can open as many as you need.
Just assumed explorer was the same, but not so.

752276 2009-02-28 23:15:00 I have used xplorer2 lite for years. This is an excellent dual pane 'explorer' replacement. The lite vers is free. See here http://www.zabkat.com/ linw (53)
752277 2009-03-01 00:07:00 Hi Blam – The point is I’m not getting a group! If I use your method of WIN +e and then open COMPUTER 3 or 4 times then I do get a group and can cascade them etc but it seems a messy way of doing things having to open COMPUTER that many times for that many folders!
Hi Colpol (or anyone else) – How do you get to Windows Explorer in Vista?

752278 2009-03-01 00:11:00 Ok-if you don't have a group-you can still right click on the taskbar and click "View Windows side by side" Blam (54)
752279 2009-03-01 00:47:00 Hi again Blam

I see what you're getting at now but that only works with Windows, so if I've got 2 or 3 apps open I can cascade the, resize and put them side by side, but how do I do that with three open folders, each containing, say, Word files, so I can drag and drop between all three?
