A swamper is a four-sided box that mounts (in my case) on the roof with a discharge port through into the living areas below (www.imagef1.net.nz). Inside is a 2-speed, ¾ hp motor and a squirrelcage blower assembly that pulls air through the louvered sides of the box and forces it into the home. (www.imagef1.net.nz) The four sides are louvered and there is a fiber matrix material that is wet with water (www.imagef1.net.nz) from a pump that draws from a reservoir in the bottom floor of the box and recirculates the water up and through all four sides of the wetted material. (www.imagef1.net.nz) As the outside air is drawn through the louvered matrix, it evaporates and removes heat through the process of evaporation and that air is entrained into the home. The top of the box is closed to make the air only travel through the matrix. Simple. |
