(High Definition) P= progressively scanned 1,080 Lines of vertical resolution or 1920x1080 pixels.Also remember that 1080p is used on Blu-Ray disks, and I think some HD-DVD disks, rather than actually TV broadcasts - which are in 1080i or 720p in countries with HD transmissions. Therefore, most of the time you won't be watching 1080p. If you want to see the difference between 480p (SD), 720p and 1080p, take a look at an HD movie trailer (www.apple.com). Microsoft also has some examples on their site, which I'm sure a WMP fan will be happy to direct you to as well. :p Just remember, if your computer is more than two years old you will probably have trouble running the 1080p trailers. |
