As some of you have already seen from our August issue, Bruce is leaving us to join a media consultancy (below is a snip from my editorial in the print edition).

This week is Bruce's last working on the magazine, and moderating this forum. So whether you've been helped, inspired or banned by Bucky, or otherwise benefited from the countless hours he's put into this site, please join me in thanking him for his 18 years of service to the PC World cause, and in wishing him the best of luck in the outside world.

A new tour of duty
With this issue we bid a fond farewell to Associate Editor Bruce Buckman, who has been with PC World for close to two decades, serving variously as our art director, editorial director, a member of our publisher’s online development team and, of course, wrangler of the merry crew at pressf1.pcworld.co.nz. All of us wish Bruce good luck as he jumps the fence.

Stepping into Bruce’s shoes is Jan Birkeland, who joins PC World’s editorial staff as feature writer/reviewer. Scandinavian-born Jan comes to us after two tours of duty with the Norwegian army in Bosnia and Kosovo (which is obviously good training for Press F1), a communications degree at the Auckland University of Technology and, most recently, our Fairfax Business Media stablemate Reseller News.

Keen readers will have noticed that confirmed power user Jan has been moonlighting for PC World recently, including his Razer review in this month’s New & Improved section, and his bloody contribution to our cover story (page 61).

Do the math. March 1988. It's 19 years. Jeez, my own boss doesn't know how long I've been here.

That's what happens when you become part of the furniture - they just s*it on you!

Even the title implies disrepect  Jump far away Bruce, Jump far away! Sounds like you will be better off .

19 years is a fairly long stint, good luck with your new venture .
