752599 2009-03-08 22:34:00 I just thought I would let you know:

1. I bought a Logitech Quick Cam Pro 9000. Pricespy showed an amazing range of prices, and I was surprised to see that Tricky Dicky was really expensive. I bought it from Computer Lounge - not the cheapest price on the list, but they were the cheapest of the suppliers that I have had good service from. It arrived the day after payment.

2. My wife and I had our first conversation with our youngest and her hubby yesterday. They took the opportunity of the video call to give us the great news - they are having their first child, which means that all of our children have now had children, or are on the way! They wanted to see our faces when they told us, so it was super timing.

3. My son used the camera/Skype to talk to them later in the day, so he got the news first hand from them too!

4. The camera/Skype combination worked really well. However, on both calls there were a number of "dropped calls". My daughter is in a fairly remote settlement in south western Australia, and they have had some adsl problems, so we think it may be from their side. On the other hand, there were well over 9 million people using Skype at the time, so that may contribute to dropped calls. We reconnected straight away each time. My daughter has a Creative camera, and the image was crystal clear. There are some nice effects you can do with the Creative software (e.g. kisses on the screen :wub )

So, thank you PressF1 advisers - all is well with our new technology thanks to your advice.
