752388 2009-03-01 22:23:00 To fix the chkdsk running on startup:

Go run>cmd>type in "fsutil dirty query c:" and press enter

It should report that the disk is dirty , then after that type in "CHKNTFS /X C:"

Do the above for all drives chkdsk is checking.

Once that is done, go to cmd and type in "chkdsk /f /r c:" and press enter

Should take 20-40mins, when done, repeat for all drives that chkdsk is checking.

After that, type in "fsutil dirty query c:"

It should report that the dirty bit is disabled.

Cheers

752391 2009-03-02 02:40:00 I was going to say "problem solved" as I had a boot up without losing my icons, however the problem persists.
I will try logging on as admin but I never have so we will see what happens.:stare:

Did all that, Blam, down to "chkdsk /f /r c:" all that happened was a window flashed up and gone too quick for me to see what it was.
