752225 2009-03-01 00:04:00 If you get no beeps etc.. is it just a blank black screen? That means you cannot even flash the bios right?Yes, black screen. Haven't got to bios to check it or flash it for that matter.

I bought this as a kit from Computer Lounge. Talk is their after sales is good. Looking increasingly likely I will find out how good.

752226 2009-03-01 03:59:00 I found CL v good. I am in Wellington and had a Nvidia card that just didn't work on my system, they couldn't fault it, after 3 or 4 weeks I got them to do an upgrade to a ATI which I paid the diff. Cos, I bought my LCD later on ...

Postage for the 2nd set was still free.
I had to pay the postage to them thou.

752227 2009-03-06 03:38:00 Ok...finally fixed it.... story goes like this:
Returned board for testing...it posted fine with their cpu, psu and ram etc.
So I reason it has to be the cpu, ....the psu ....or possibly the bios.
So I lash out and buy a new corsair 520w... problem same.
That left cpu or bios.
I borrowed a dual core AM2 cpu, fitted it up and it beeped!! ....Yay!!
Now finally I was able to access the bios and the version was 0418. According to the vague Asus website, anything above 0217 was supposedly OK. So I download the latest version 0703, installed it with EZ flash utility from a USB stick....swapped out the CPU for my quad and ....YES.
....and was I ever pleased to hear that beep!!

752229 2009-03-06 03:49:00 Looks like ASUS screwed up, saying the CPU would work with BIOS v0217 when it didn't. Agent_24 (57)
752230 2009-03-07 11:25:00 Looks like ASUS screwed up, saying the CPU would work with BIOS v0217 when it didn'tYes, that's the way I see it. I believed I'd see the 0217 bios when I first got into the bios but it was the 0418.

Interestingly enough, the latest 0703 bios was only made available 2 days before my first post on this subject!

Well it says a lot for having known good parts handy to swap out.
