751864 2009-02-27 18:59:00 For those interested, new Safari 4 Beta is available for download.

Has a Windows native look and feel which might appeal to XP and Vista users and has many new features.

751867 2009-02-27 19:36:00 I downloaded it yesterday. Personally I preferred the previous versions apple skin, but it does seem good. davidmmac (4619)
751868 2009-02-27 19:43:00 If it knew how to keep /save passwords, like other browsers, I would try / use it Speedy Gonzales (78)

If it is the same as the Mac version - Preferences/Autofill

751870 2009-02-27 20:03:00 Its got the option, but doesnt work.

Its just as useless as the option in Quicktime (edit/preferences/player preferences). Untick show content guide, and change number of recent items to None. BOTH load up next time you run it

Whats the point of having the option, when it doesnt work

Does it work like in FF or Seamonkey where the sidebar can be permanently on the left no matter how many tabs are open/change?

751872 2009-02-27 21:06:00 I'd avoid it for now. I've used Safari as my primary browser since the original public beta in 2002 but 4 is certainly not ready yet. The Windows version doesn't seem to respect proxies as it doesn't connect to any sites at all on my work PC.

The Mac version is better but there are still quirks with some features like Top Sites. For example if you have a forum as a top site, then all the "new" tags will disappear from new posts when Top Sites loads the page. I'm not sure how that can be avoided!

751873 2009-02-28 00:22:00 Safari isn't as fast as apple states it is. Only the Javascript is fastest out of all the browsers.

Firefox FTW:D
