565452 2007-07-05 00:42:00 Police chases are not going to be quite such engrossing TV as in the good old days. ;) Do they have to wait for the pedestrian phase at intersections? R2x1 (4628)
565453 2007-07-05 12:13:00 what's wrong with walking? motorbyclist (188)
565454 2007-07-05 15:53:00 When we had a real police department here a few years ago . . which the city council decided would better be hired from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department . . . there were bicycle patrols, foot patrols and in general a pretty good visible presence by them .

They fired the local talent . . who, by the way had a vested interest in the city in which they lived . Not now . . as they re-routed a few cops who were driving through our town to go home or eat lunch .

Now we usually see a cop if we see one at all that is, in an air-conditioned patrol car talking on his cell phone driving by people with no seatbelts on, failing to stop and generally not caring about things other than staying comfortable and looking cool . They sure seem to be in a hurry to get through this place to where they are going .

Anything that gets overweight-donut-eaters out into the smog like the rest of the population is a good thing . . even if they don't have to do anything other than lean to turn or go or stop . Anything more would probably be outside the limits of their contract anyway .
