566833 2007-07-07 21:56:00 Was prepared for a cold night last night with an extra blanket but this morning it's the hardest frost that I can remember for a long time at -6 deg C. :waughh:

The condensation on the living room windows has frozen solid at the bottom of the window and I can't open the bathroom window, it's frozen shut. Have never experienced either before but funnily enough the water is coming through the kitchen and bathroom taps whereas normally we get either a sink full of ice or nothing at all on hard-frost mornings. :p

Must go, my big bowl of steaming hot porridge is ready.

566834 2007-07-07 22:14:00 Underfloor insulation and and HRV ventilation will solve your condensation problems. We have that in our house which is a 1930s bungalow which was very drafty. winmacguy (3367)
566835 2007-07-07 22:39:00 We do have a DVS home ventilation system which normally works very well as we don't very often get much condensation . The extreme conditions last night was just a little too much for it, obviously, even with its heater on .

The two rooms that had the frozen window frames are on the opposite side of the house to the DVS ventilation outlet . Because of its location one of the windows often gets a couple of inches of condensation at the bottom which isn't a problem as it soon disappears after a few hours . Prior to the installation of the DVS the entire window would stay covered in heavy condensation for most of the day .

We even got some minor condensation with double glazing .

566840 2007-07-08 01:28:00 Last night was freezing, I sober drove some mates in town, then I put my jacket behind a bar while my mates did there thing. I got pushed around by 3 drunk fellas so I pushed one back and got kicked out. Then had to walk home as the idiot bouncers would not let me in to grab my jacket which had my keys in it. So yea, very cold walk home. Picked up my keys and jacket today and gave them my best middle finger. rob_on_guitar (4196)

North Island is a freakin paradise in winter compared to the South. If I ever get up north during winter I find myself peeling off triple layers of thermals as the drive progress' until Im in a t-shirt and shorts by the time I get to Auckland :)

566842 2007-07-08 01:57:00 -7 here this morning, warmed up to a toasty 3 as I type .
The outer loo pipes are frozen and the kitchen tap still is .

As for condensation, we have none at all . I have no underfloor insulation nor HRV whatevers .
Isee comments on TMs DIY forum all the time from people with new sealed tight houses moaning about that .
They need to breathe to prevent it .

Its nice and warm in here though as my fire got lit first thing .

Its all pretty outside with sparkly white trees . Must be Xmas .

My son in Auckland thinks he's cold .
He hasn't even got a heater going and is wearing only 1 jumper .
Sook .
