567574 2007-07-10 10:03:00 Taking off is more fun... I've got a video from the net somewhere of an Air France 747 at the end of that runway powering up it's engines for a short take-off. As he winds 'em up you can see umbrellas and people tumbling head over heels as they are blown into the water :)

I was out driving around Whenuapai airbase today and there's a nice sign on the public road around the field that says 'Stop when lights are flashing'... one can only assume that a few planes have difficulty making it over the fence between the end of the runway and the road :stare:

Bear in mind that the take off run is calculated EXACTLY taking into account weather conditions and aircraft weight.
And anyone who picnics or whatever under the flightpath deserves what they get.

Flew in last night to Whenuapai in the 60kt winds, was very very fun!
