2009-03-03 01:07:00 | The people at our local Museum here have been using Office 2007 for a short time now and they transcribe a lot of old Documents. Anyway quite often what they did was at the end of a paragraph or similar they would type in about ****** then hit enter. This used to be ok in their old version of Office and some using Open Office. Doing this with Word 2007 creates like a line of square bullets and there is no way to remove them. Even copying from one computer to another to work on the document brings them with it. There seems to be no way to get rid of them. Any ideas anyone? I have looked through a lot of the settings for them but I am no expert. It seems like its just putting the bullets there and it is a bit like a margin also.

2009-03-03 01:23:00 | Have you suggested the people working on documents use Save As RTF. This would keep some formatting and would normally allow any text editor to open the file. Have you set up a Group so that members of the group can share? | Sweep (90) | |

2009-03-03 03:57:00 | If this is a habit thing rather than reformatting the problem that has already been saved then just add a space att the end of the ****** will stop the autotext/auto format thing being invoked. Thats probably easier than turning off the particular autotext entry. | Ofthesea (14129) | |

2009-03-04 01:12:00 | Have asked them to try those things, the font by default is Calibri i think with Office 2007. He is going to try Times New Roman and also they will do the space thing before hitting enter, like you say it sounds like an auto thing they are kicking in hitting enter. They had tried to copy bits of the documents and copy into a blank doc but it copied the thing too so hopefully changing the font will sort that, will post back when they let me know. Cheers

2009-03-04 09:47:00 | Auto correct ?? yea, in my older Word version; (yes this feature does exist) Tools + Autocorrect + Autoformat as you type + Automatic bulleted lists - untick this box will prevent the behaviour causing the problem
