567334 2007-07-09 07:12:00 Our old printer's quality has dropped considerably :yuck:, so we are looking for a new printer. We want an economic one (eg separate colour cartridges) and the cheaper to run it is the better. A multifunction would be good, but not
necessary. A network jack is preferred (due to parallel printers disappearing, and no USB ports are left).

Any printers matching this that you guys recommend?

Any printers matching this that you guys recommend? Type of printer? I think you're talking about laser printer. Check out TomsHardware.com for how to buy an inkjet printer. Yeah, maybe some reviews on it too.

Amen. I would personally recommend a HP that suits your needs. Got one in the weekend to replace the old Brother and what a change. Easier to use, smaller, nicer to look at and very importantly, quiet.

567338 2007-07-09 08:40:00 Don't buy anything by brother. I've found HP printers are very good quality, and they have so many options they are bound to have something to suit your needs. Canon is also good, and I think their drivers are better than HP. Greven (91)

567340 2007-07-09 10:40:00 Not sure about specific models, but Epson makes great printers so check out their site to see if the make a model that meets your needs. :) maccrazy (6741)
567341 2007-07-09 23:07:00 Canon multi-function and HP inkjets are the tops in my view. Epson and Brother inkjets have (or did have a couple of years ago) a bad habit of cleaning themselves all the time and thereby wasting a lot of ink. FoxyMX (5)

I think PCUSER should join consumers himself. I have found on the whole its well worth the cost and anyway interesting reading. One of my main grumbles with them is the fact that they have inevitably tested something I have just bought and found a better option. This happens with PCWorld also. Years ago I had just bought my Epson printer and on the way home bought the latest PCWorld to find my printer had just been down graded by the new HP.
I have a multi function HP now and at about a third the cost of the old Epson it is superior in every respect.
That's progress.
