569938 2007-07-18 01:06:00 Hi, so Q6600 which is quad core @ 2.4 B3 stepping will drop to US$266 on 22/7, thats NZ$340 or thereabouts..

Wonder how long before NZ e-retailers will drop there prices....?

569939 2007-07-18 02:11:00 Not too long, I just picked up the new E6750 for $305, absolute bargin, now only if the Motherboard worked!!! Pacifier (2821)
569940 2007-07-18 04:25:00 It probably wouldn't work out at $340 in NZ for Q6600 just because it will be $266 in the US....have to take levels of demand, etc into perspective. I expect Q6600s to cost about $400-$500 here.

I'm really eager until the price drop. But what I don't understand is if the E6x50 CPUs are out, where's the price drops in the E6x00 CPUs? Why does it have to wait until the 22nd?

Oh, and some sellers on trademe are selling quite a few second hand E6600s....for the price of a new E6550.

I asked a seller charging $290 for a second hand E6600 if he could put a buy now of $230, also pointing out the availability and price of a new E6550 of only $260, and guess what happened? He blacklisted me lol. :p

And can't ask them anymore questions.

Obviously this seller is trying to get the most out of his secondhand E6600, I was just asking for a logical price as $290 for a secondhand E6600 is too expensive.

569944 2007-07-18 11:07:00 He sounds like a dick.

I'm looking forward to the price drops, they'll save me loads of money.

That, or I'll be forced to lower all my prices. We'll see.

Yeah, he is.

His first auction did not go through, though. He said he is not 'hoping' for money. Now he has relisted it, at the same price of $290. Idiot....

569946 2007-07-18 21:01:00 So has anyone tried to buy computer components from overseas?. I bought a stroker paint sprayer from the US for my Dad once, cost $1700 incl NZ GST when bringing it into the country as apposed to $3500 to buy here.

I mean, okay a video card can have issues, and you may want to RMA, however a CPU, RAM, HDD are all fairly safe products to buy without worry of returning.

What do you guys think?

I'm considering it carefully. There are decent savings to be made, certainly. With a lot of products it might be possible to do an RMA directly to the manufacturer here in NZ (via their NZ service agent, which I think most manufacteres have).

Even if it isn't possible, it may be worth buying overseas.

Were you thinking of buying from the US or Australia, or the asian countries that the parts are made in?
