I've have a look online & there are plenty to choose from.Online? Dude, I though online is uncool man. Besides if you're cool and able to keep up with everything online and of course unless you have no idea what a PC is. Dude attend a real course with practical man, you'll need it and you'll thank me later, Comp TIA exam is not as easy as it looks trust me man.

568967 2007-07-14 09:11:00 Buy a couple of books, do some of the 10 thousand test quizes available online.

Hell, I walked through a class being held a couple of years ago, and they were teaching out of a $60 book......

Hell, I walked through a class being held a couple of years ago, and they were teaching out of a $60 book......CompTIA A+ have just changed recently, man, someone's gonna fail if that person have lack of resources, I tried tons of question from Mike Meyers book but didn't help much but help from tutors can help me fill in the blanks.
Oh, yeah, try the Prep Kit available online too, it'll help a lot, trust me man, I tired it and it helps. CompTIA has changed.
Rural? That's pretty tough man, but I can't help you, practical is involved as well in CompTIA i.e. How to access ....? and you have to select four but one right. Dude, do you think you can handle it man?

568969 2007-07-14 09:40:00 OK sure there is an abundance of info available, but I would prefer to be learning the appropriate stuff. I had a look at some of the available tests today so have an idea of the areas I need to research.
I wasn't planning on starting another career this late in life as I already have too trades but can't work in either of them for health reasons.
I would prefer to go through a course as should direct me down the appropriate path.

568970 2007-07-14 10:35:00 When I did A+, I was basically left alone at the place to study at my own pace (knowing that I also had a target timeframe to learn it all). I was provided discs with dummy questions, Was also given an impromptu dummy A+ test at the beginning to show me what sort of questions would be asked (from memory I got 62% in that first test without studying). This test was a mix of the 2 exams I would face at the end. Was given the Mike Meyers books, more discs of his with tutorials and tests. Anything I was confused with (which was seldom) there were A+ certified techs or the main tutor I could ask. Practical consisted of basically basic stuff in the beginning to being able to build a new computer from scratch with brand new parts (they required a backup server for their own use, I got to build that). Also did 4 months unpaid work experience with the techs, learnt heaps. (I think I averaged mid 80% for the 2 A+ exams).

Its better if you can do it in person at a place of learning, where there are people to help you. You will also get the practical experience (theres a world of difference between practical and theory). I do realise you possibly cannot do this, for me I had to travel 1/2 hour to the city (but then I also had my own car)

Just my 2cents tips. The exam is not cheap either so be careful again.

568972 2007-07-14 10:41:00 The exam is not cheap either so be careful again.I did the exams in 2004 (or 2005). Cost then was $400 (per exam). There were 2 exams then (one for hardware, one for OS), unsure if its changed Myth (110)

Face it man, no dummy questions, and it is quite tricky too, yes as I said recently A+ has changed a lot for some reason, maybe make it harder since everyone can scored it easily in the old days not now anymore.
I thought the uCertify(www.ucertify.com) Prep Kit was hard but even harder at the CompTIA A+. :waughh: Some dude just said that prep kit was three times harder than the real one, maybe making it ten times easier than the real one. yeah, I won't buy that ucertify thing anymore or recommend it to someone unless they improve their quality.
I think the price is $353, but I got a discount from the Academy so I paid only $310 for it & as a token if you passed the first one you get the second free I mean the first one is Essentials and second one is which field are you into i.e. Support, Depot, and IT Technician.
So my answers is real?
