| 755117 | 2009-03-10 01:49:00 | I am thinking of getting an ipod touch, for checking my email and surfing the website via wifi, while I am away from my desk. It would be used for business purposes, so I want to buy it through my business. Does anyone know whether this would be frowned upon by the inland revenue. Essentially it is just a PDA or miniture computer, however becuase it is called an 'ipod' I am thinking that it could be questioned as to whether it is a business purchase. Is anyone able to tell me if it would be an allowable business expense, or if anyone else has purchased one through their business? TIA | robbyp (2751) | ||

IRD would have no issue with this. It's only when you start claiming purely personal purchases that IRD will become unhappy. |

The only issue I think is that the receipt will show 'ipod' which is known as a music device, which I am sure my accountant would question too, but I guess it will be fine when I explain it to them. | robbyp (2751) | ||

That said, I would *highly* recommend the iPod Touch, great little device! I got one for my fiance for Christmas after she kept nicking my iPhone for games amongst other things, she loves it too :) |
