The internet, after all, is mostly entertainment. Western mono-culture entertainment. Proper democratic institutions, free markets and property-rights. Thats what they should have given them. How are laptops going to help? |

They can print out the pictures of food they download and eat them, surf the weather sites and plan their crop plantings, See how to invest there money or trade it on the world exchange. The list is endless Its a bit like the government's plan to have the internet in all homes by 2015. The poor can surf the net to take there minds off the fact that they can't afford to surf. |

Education is the key to world stability and prosperity. It may result in cheaper computers for us all. Or soon they may be the only computers we in NZ can afford as we become a third world country ourselves. It may result in more pron from different countries being available !
