Your relationship is doomed.

You are actually setting yourself up for failure here, Jamuz.

You think to much. Don't plan the night, don't work out what you are gonna say or do. Just let things happen as they unfold, otherwise you will get a little bit nervous and end up saying/doing something you otherwise wouldn't say/do.

But that's just me. I've never had to ask a girl out before. They usually get tired of me playing hard to get and end up asking me. I never try to hard.

In the words of the black dude in "Harold and Kumar go to white castle"

The universe tends to work itself out.

Sarel: You don't need to know the jiggy stuff to show to the whole world that you have grown up. And besides, girls are not impressed with those jiggles.

Truth is mate they are. Whether they make it openly noticeable or not.

And why the hell would you want to show the whole world you have grown up?. Thats kind of touching on the "try hard" thing that Metla described.

Sound advice. Be yourself.

Very modest.

572248 2007-07-27 09:11:00 Hi Jams. I really really want to act myself on that night, but I am just preparing for Plan B in case my natural instinct suffers a total meltdown.

Cheers :)

572249 2007-07-27 15:06:00 personally, i don't see what's wrong with having a drink or two. no-one said you have to get drunk - infact i advise against it if you aren't used to it, but one drink will help you open up a bit as you sounds pretty reserved/frigid.

and i think planning 6 months in advance is why you're so nervous... i mean, i generally buy my tickets on the last day and get a suit in the week leading up to the night lol

that said, i made the sad mistake of not having any protection for my 6th form ball, so no luck there and she gave up on me and got back together with her ex later that week: being caught with is ALWAYS better than without

and for 7th form afterball my date drank enough alcohol to kill an elephant and subsequently hooked up with a lesbian.... my night kinda went downhill from there, especially when the cops turned up and i had to carry her home, but i sure was popular at school afterwards

engineering ball will be interesting, the girls seem to want me to cut my hair... yeah right! i don't even know if i'm going yet and with whom...

so anyway,
my point is that planning these things doesn't help; just go out and have fun. don't let yourself get pressured into anything you don't want to do. by convincing yourself you can't dance you havn't helped much there either; if you feel stupid you won't enjoy it, so just get over yourself and muck around.

as for dancing to rock/pop/rap; it pays to like and know the music, and that duals as a good conversation starter ;)

572252 2007-07-28 09:59:00 I will change the direction in which this thread is sailing to:

What are the things that I should prepare / do for the ball?

Get my suit ready
Get a rose
Have my nails trimmed
Get my hair all spiked up
Learn to be relax and be natural

572253 2007-07-28 10:03:00 yes, yes, uh why not, if that's what you think looks good, and definetly yes - you shouldn't have to learn to be your self lol motorbyclist (188)
572254 2007-07-28 10:09:00 Don't forget to:
Brush your teeth A lot of guys over look this one which can be something that a lot of girls are impressed by. Also makes for fresher breath.
Put on a touch of cologne - don't over do it otherwise the smell will render her unconcious.
Put of a bit of matching deodorant but don't over do that either.

572255 2007-07-28 10:41:00 I am not sure about cologne and deodarant as I have never put them on before...

Ah yeap, definitely I will brush my teeth before I go. I might pop in a Listerine strip as well.

Cheers :)
