2007-07-21 12:08:00 | The customer is always right only if they are a customer. Life is too short to pander to these types of people - so don't make them a customer and you won't have the hassle of dealing with people who steal your time, your resources and your knowledge. Plus these sorts of people are usually really slow at paying their bill. So don't make them a customer and they will never be right. Send them to a competitor. That's what we do. Much easier and much less hassle. So how to recognise an ex-potential customer? They question the quote? ..... then ..... goodbye! Good on you for refunding the full amount George. You will be better off without this person in your life. Andrew Right on the money. I quite literally recommended in my e-mail telling him I'd deposited the refund that he go to Dell.

2007-07-21 14:04:00 | If I were you George I would have just given him a full refund, which you have. This also reflects on you as being MORE than fair, giving him No reason to complain to others about your service. I know what you mean about the deposit but it's not worth the agro and like others have said put it down to a lesson learned.

2007-07-21 22:21:00 | Pctek, we're in the same boat, I only build to order. That's why it's quite bad for me when someone pulls out of a sale - as it could take a while to get rid of the parts. In this case I can probably sell the whole thing again. B.M., he found the auction, then contacted me directly and arranged the sale. I can't see how we are. I don't advertise PCs on Trademe. I mean I only build a PC when someone orders one for whatever reason, whether the old one is beyond repair or they just want a shiny new gaming PC or something. And they choose/confirm components before I even order anything.

2007-07-22 01:33:00 | if you have got that wrong, then they also may think that the components inside may also not be what was advertised, as how would they really know . Now that is exactly what I would be thinking if I were in his boots . If he is a Target junkie like me then he would probably be rather mistrustful of people who does work for him when he's not in a position to know whether they are honest or not . Anyway, you did the right thing George .

2007-07-22 02:51:00 | I think you have done the right thing . You never know, you might get custom from his friends/family because he said that you out are out the keep your customers happy . Who knows . We was probably using the case as an excuse but if he had of taken the replacement case, he would be back in 6 months asking for his money back anyway . I wish my business would run without customers :D
