Panadol seems to work pretty good for damaged bones so long as you take it every four hours. | johcar (6283) | ||

| 571090 | 2007-07-21 23:00:00 | When I broke my foot I got Codiene. Piraphen I think was the name, has a small amount of codiene in it. Marvellous stuff, only needed it for a few days then just had an aspirin there after for a bit. |

Panadol seems to work pretty good for damaged bones so long as you take it every four hours. The recent PSNZ (Pharmaceutical Society of New Zealand) newsletter states that inflammation may assist the body in counteracting the pain naturally, therefore it may not be advisable to take any NSAIDs (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as Diclofenac immediately after the pain occurs. As I have said earlier, the best thing to do is to consult your pharmacist (or doctor as Jen has suggested, whichever you prefer). Somebody: I am still in my first year. :D Cheers :) |

Marvellous stuff, only needed it for a few days then just had an aspirin there after for a bit. It is called "Pirophen". According to MIMS Online NZ, the main uses are "Analgesic, antipyretic; relief of strong pain incl headache, nerve, muscular and period pain." Cheers :) |

| 571093 | 2007-07-22 00:02:00 | You have my sympathy, Greg. When I cracked just one rib some time ago, I found it gave me more pain than a broken arm I'd had earlier. Coughing produced the worst pain - and that's not something you can easily control, especially at this time of year. But my GP gave me a useful hint that helped a lot. When you feel a cough coming on, grab a cushion/pillow and hold it hard against your chest. I found it really does dilute the pain & wished I'd known it sooner. Good luck. |
