i have an oil heater that is 1000WATT. The heater has a dial that goes from 1-10. So if i put the dial on 5,would this mean the heater will only be using 500WATT? |

It will use 1000 W when it's on and 0 W when it's off. That's how thermostats work. Tweak'e isn't quite right ... the 1.. 10 isn't degrees (C, or F). ;) Think of "1..10" as "cooler ... warmer". (Or since it's only 1kW, as "cold .. not_quite_as_cold") |
