756388 2009-03-14 23:44:00 How can I get the Hibernate button next to the Stand By button? MS Help and Support said SP3 already had the hotfix, but you need to "enable it". I have Windows XP Pro SP3.

Here is an image:

756389 2009-03-14 23:47:00 \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Wi ndows\System\Shutdown
Create a DWORD value named ShowHibernationButton and set its data to 1.

756391 2009-03-14 23:57:00 Ok, you'll have to resort to this then:

756392 2009-03-15 00:13:00 If you have SP3, it may not work. It'll say its newer than that update

So, all you have to do is the registry stuff

756393 2009-03-15 01:58:00 You hold down the shift key and the standby button changes into a hibernate button Agent_24 (57)
756394 2009-03-15 02:00:00 The link Blam posted works as well. It'll add the hibernate button.

So 4 buttons appear on shutdown, not 3

Obviously, hibernate has to be enabled so you can select it

he knows that-he just wants it to be next to the standby button

Just an extension to that-if you find that it is disabled, go to cmd>Type in "powercfg /h on"

Press enter, and it'll be enabled.

You could also try the "Vista Start Menu" program that has the hibernate button on the start menu

756397 2009-03-15 03:12:00 thank you SO much blam6! I had already read that link, but the cmd>Type in "powercfg /h on" worked perfectly! Once again thank you! mathsgood (13356)
