| 755727 | 2009-03-12 02:07:00 | Ok I have a HP XW6400 workstions 3GHz Xeon CPU 120GB HDD 2GB DDR2 RAM nVidia Quadro 440NVS 128MB Graphics card what's happenig... 2 things 1) PC will boot, go into POST fine and then start loading Windows XP Pro. Then it shuts off and beeps 2 short beeps (Beep.... Beep...) 2) The PC won't boot at all. What've done so far... 1) Reseated memory modules (no joy) 2) Reseated graphics card (no joy) 3) replaced the RAM with 4 new modules (no joy) I haven't swapped the graphics card out yet... we only have a critical spare available... I'm reluctant to use it at this stage... in case it is something simple I am missing... having said that it would probably be the quickest way to check the fault. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks. |

| 755729 | 2009-03-12 02:34:00 | When the PC shuts down at what stage does it get to in loading the OS ? As speedy asked does it start in safe mode ? Where you wrote, it wont boot at all, does it boot again after about 5-10 minutes ???? - if so check the CPU fan is actually working, if its over heating there is a thermal cut out in the CPU that will stop it from booting until it cools down enough - usually takes the 5-10 minutes. |

| 755730 | 2009-03-12 02:55:00 | Ok swapped in a new graphics card... same model as the current one and still no joy. I'm not booting in Safe Mode. Gets to the PRESS ctrl-alt-del screen and then dies on me. I'll check this and update. Cheers, |

| 755733 | 2009-03-12 04:01:00 | More than one beep is unusual. Usually indicates a problem. So what BIOS are you using? |
