755652 2009-03-11 22:53:00 Is it possible to have multiple broadband connections going to one house?

My flatmates have decided that the slowest and lowest cost broadband is suitable for their needs, they also think Telecom would be a great ISP :stare:

Im not going to have Telecom as my ISP. Could I have a separate broadband connection for my personal use? as well as my flatmates having their own slow/cheap connection?

755653 2009-03-11 22:58:00 Probably could, but you would have to have separate phone lines. So, if there's only one line, another will have to be installed

Unless you get naked DSL, you'll be paying for the broadband (and whatever else they charge to join), the installation for the new line, and the phone

If you really want to connections, you'd prob have to go Naked DSL though as Speedy mentioned. Orcon and Telstra do it. Telecom doesn't AFAIK

Not to mention the random times when the connection is down, Ive heard enough from quite a few people about Telecoms level of service and none of it has been complementary

755657 2009-03-12 03:45:00 Yes, absolutely you can have as many as you like.

Each "regular" internet must have a Local Land line associated with it, unless you get Naked DSL through the likes of Orcon (Highly recommended!). Naked DSL will also give you your own VoIP Phone line.

Bear in mind there may be a once-off setup charge for you to get such a connection, but I know that with Naked DSL with Orcon for $79.95 a month you get a VoIP line, full line speed up & down (ADSL2+ speeds where available) and 15GB of Data!! :D

Thanks for the reply's guys.

755660 2009-03-12 08:30:00 AFAIK you can go with TelstraClear in Chch Chilling_Silence (9)
755661 2009-03-12 08:53:00 I live under my landlords house and he has broadband and I have broadband. I think having two phone lines makes it OK.

My question is can you have multple broadband connections into on PC to get higher speed?
