| 573454 | 2007-07-28 06:48:00 | I said goodbye to my old trusty TEAC TV late last year. It was running very well for 14 years. and cost only ~$400 back in 1994. I saw the 1995 Rugby World Cup (with Jonah Lomu) on it! It was found that the CRT tubes had busted and that new ones would cost about a total of $160. I was told that it would be a better idea to buy a new TV for about $400. Since then new flat panel TVs have turned up on the appliance store shelves here in North Shore City. Now what would be a good new TV to purchase? Remember that I am looking ahead for the next 14 years (to the year 2021 :-) when there are supposed to be flying cars and ~10cm higher sea levels. I mean a TV that is reliable and nice to watch. My requirements for such a new TV are: - Clear picture - Budget level TVs to be under $600 and middle end TVs to be under $1500 - Reliable after purchase service and maintenance - Takes input from DVD playing and PC devices. - High definition TV (to future proof it for one year ahead when high def TV comes on the market). - Teletext Does anyone have recommendations? These would be appreciated. |
