573353 2007-07-28 02:10:00 Apple has just released Bonjour for Windows
It is designed to making networking Windows PCs much easier. It was previously called Rendevous on the Mac until a legal dispute forced a name change. It is version 1.0.4 for Windows.

573355 2007-07-28 03:04:00 is that the crap that uses IE as a netwotk interface?

573356 2007-07-28 05:09:00 NO it isn't.
"Bonjour is a networking protocol that sends and receives network packets on UDP port 5353. If you have a "personal firewall" enabled, you will need to ensure that UDP port 5353 is open for Bonjour to work correctly. Certain firewalls will only partially block Bonjour packets, so if you experience intermittent behavior, check the firewall settings and verify that Bonjour is listed as an exception and is allowed to receive incoming packets. Bonjour will configure the Windows firewall appropriately during installation on Windows XP Service Pack 2 and above."

573357 2007-07-28 05:18:00 I read the fluff, last time I looked at it she ran within Internet Explorer,it installed various plugins and active X controls within IE, all just to make a gui for networking.

Granted they might have made it a stand alone application but in gerenal the Apple way tends to suck, and networking Windows is dead easy already.

I was under the impression that Bonjour for Windows was just released. I am aware that Bonjour has been out for the Mac for some time.
I posted it here because I was interested to see how much of a difference, if any, that it would make for anyone having issues at home getting their numerous PCs to network.

Edit: I wasn't aware that you had already posted it some years back plod. ;)
