Very interesting... Some business analysts are obviously not happy with Microsoft's "successes" in the gaming and music player market. I wonder why:rolleyes:

Morons. These investors obviously have no idea how much money the "video games" industry is worth.

573143 2007-07-27 04:30:00 That would be where your missing the point Jams. The video games industry is potentially worth billions, it just seems to be costing Microsoft about 2 Billion dollars to get there but they have nothing to show for it. According to Steve Ballmer, "innovation takes time and money", well it does if your not doing it properly.
The thing about analysts and investors is that they like to see a substantial return on the money they have invested in Microsoft which happened back in the 90's but is not happening so much now despite Microsoft's size.

573144 2007-07-27 08:22:00 You have to spend some money to make some money. beeswax34 (63)
573145 2007-07-27 09:05:00 Indeed you do but it would seem that the investors are still waiting for Microsoft to start making money in the entertainment division which is obviously Microsoft's weaker suite compared to its office products division. winmacguy (3367)
573146 2007-07-27 09:42:00 The thing you've got to realise about so-called analysts, is that they don't do anything. They are the business world's version of film critics, or phys-ed teachers. They've got plenty of mouth but not much trousers, and most importantly, they change their minds more times than Larry Ellison chnages his suits.

Now I'm not saying that our boys and girls down in the entertainment biz have absolutely got it nailed yet. I'm not going to go up on stage and tell anyone that the Zune is the best damn thing since the mouse was invented or that Xbox 360 will dance a jig on the grave of Playstation 3. No sir.

But these guys have short memories. They forget that not so long ago they were saying how crap this thing called Windows was. How the Mac would rule the world. How OS/2 was the best OS to come along in ages. They forget when Netscape was everyone's darling product and company.

It don't mean nothing. Do we care if it takes us a while? No we don't. Do we care if our products aren't the best? No overly.

All we care about is being the last man standing. And we're good at that.
