572535 2007-07-25 03:06:00 So my son is turning 14 in October (I know, I know ..... I look waaaaaaaaay to young to have a 14 year old) :illogical and I have no idea what to get him for his birthday .... any suggestions?

Was thinking lap top but we already have a comp and I hardly use it so ..... waste of money? Or possibly a telly .... he already has one, its only a 25in but its big enuf for playstaion ........ (thats wat he says) Possibly a PS3? He has a PS2 and uses it often but ..... he wont buy games cause he clocks them in a day so whats the point of paying money for something you will probably never use again, although he has a few games he plays now and then but honestly I think it will be a waste of money, could go for an Xbox but again ... a waste? I got him an MP3 player last year with the most gigs I could find so theres really no upgrade and he already has a PXT phone, just the basic but hes happy with that. Could upgrade his stereo but what sort and if he uses the comp to play his songs will it be a waste of space and cash.Hes not a demanding child so it frustrates me that theres nothing he can think of that he wants. I offered to pay to decorate his very unfortunate (rented house) room but again he says nah. I will be giving him a hundred or so for clothes vouchers and hes not really into hanging with mates as I was thinking of shouting them to laser strike or something but again he says naaaaaaaaah. Don't really want to flick him cash. I could always do like in the advertisement on the telly and buy him a washing machine, which he wont use so I will end up keeping.

After reading my post over I honestly, seriously think im totally out of options. Thank gawd its still a while away.

Just so you know hes a computer freak/geek who loves heavy metal and playing PS2, hates sports and anything with rap. That info should help you to help me. pmsfl.:waughh:

Spoilt if you ask me.
My husband doesn't have a pxt phone.
I don't have a stereo.
Neither of us have a console nor an MP3 player.

Hmmm, lets see you haven't bought him a Ferrari yet.

572539 2007-07-25 03:38:00 Remote control car, I still get kick out of them lol rob_on_guitar (4196)
572540 2007-07-25 03:41:00 Unfortunately this is the world we now live in. Parents think that to be a good parent you need to buy their kids ps3's xbox's etc and the kids expect it.

I think for my 14th birthday i got a bicycle and if i didn't look after it my parents said it would be sold to someone who would!.

572541 2007-07-25 04:22:00 Thanks heaps for the actual suggestions . CDs are always a winner . Remote control car . . . . . not sure hes into that but ill ask him, hes a very old 14 .

Not that I feel I should have to explain myself but . . . funnily enough when I gift my son something for all his 13 birthdays an xmas's I actually thought it be a good idea to get him something he would like and enjoy using hence the PS2 . The T . V is mine from my bedroom I no longer use, the computer is a family one, the radio is a house one I put in his room to save me from listening to his music . Yes OMG I brought him a phone and a MP3 player for his 13th birthday last October and xmas last year, poor poor spoilt child . I put 1 thing on H/P every year and thought it would be a great idea to get him something he could use for years to come . As for feeling pressured into getting my son things to be a good parent . . . . . not sure that that makes sense . . . in this day and age a PS2 is a bike to some kids, a cell phone is a board game . For me to not buy him these things because someone thinks buying them is wrong because I'm pressured into it by others who thinks it right . . . . good god, lets be sensible .

I know some people feel it necessary to generalize and judge without any fact or knowledge into the situation but I truly just wanted some suggestions as to what to get my poor spoilt child for his 14th birthday . Thanks . :)

572542 2007-07-25 04:23:00 Lucky kid indeed....I bought all my stuff myself. Well, most of them. qazwsxokmijn (102)
572543 2007-07-25 04:23:00 A cheap surround sound system with DVD player.

Cost a couple of hundred (pocket change) and will compliment everything he already has.
