2009-03-18 16:50:00 | XP all up to date on DLINK modem router works on wireless but ipconfig just shows "Windows XP configuration" and it will not work on LAN.The port and cable work with a linux OS on the same box. This has occurred since a full reinstall of the XP OS.

2009-03-18 18:14:00 | IP config /all returns the same answer. You appear on the right track about the driver. But a net search returns no driver available and the XP disk search also returns the same even tho the driver must have been there on the original install of xp.

2009-03-18 18:32:00 | Because you don't get drivers off Windows. You get it off the manufacturers CD or off their website if you haven't got CDs. Laptop - go there and look up your model. Desktop - go to the motherboard manufacturers site, enter model and get all the drivers - sound, LAN, Chipset etc..

2009-03-18 20:44:00 | Theyre probably from windowsupdate. DONT use windowsupdate or the updates in XP. Go to whatever site and download then install them Altho, I dont know how that could happen, if the LAN drivers werent installed

I never had a problem with them when running Windows (and even when working tech at one of the local companies) The only drivers you DON'T use from M$ are sound and graphics drivers Maybe a hotfix has done it? Anyway, its working now, :) |
