757113 2009-03-17 04:11:00 Hey,

I have been asked by a customer to quote them on a replacement computer that they use on their boat for navigation.
They currently have a standard mATX desktop case with a P4 CPU and 256MB RAM. I think the HDD is 20GB.
It has a standard looking ATX PSU in it except that there is no standard 3-pin power connector on the back.
Instead it has a 3-screw terminal, one for V+, one for V- and I think the other screw terminal was a ground terminal.
It doesn't look like this PSU has been modified so must have come from a factory.
Anyone got any ideas where I might be able to source one of these from?
Or if you have another way of doing it please tell me :D

Is that what you want?

Not ATX size, but still compatible

Well it may work but would prefer a standard ATX PSU if possible thanks.
Forgot to mention that the current PC also has one of the molex connectors from the PSU sticking out the back of the PC as they plug something into it as well.

If they want a replacement computer, why not a laptop, Ive heard they run on 12v

757117 2009-03-17 08:07:00 Would it be cheaper to use an inverter to convert to 240V... then you can just use a normal PSU? Of course this will only work for boats which have sufficient power... somebody (208)
757118 2009-03-17 08:20:00 an inverter hands down, but as somebody mentioned check how many amps can be supplied. dbs (8785)

The computer needs to have an LPT port & 4 serial ports so a laptop is not an option.
