2009-03-16 06:33:00 | I have put all my questions into one post. First, lets start with the poll. 1) Do you think IE7 is better than IE8? (Poll) 2)I accidently deleted the Home/Desktop Scheme in Power Options. How can I get it back? 3)I've searched google on how to remove/disable OGA, and I said to rename anything that starts with OGA in %WINDIR%\system32 to some other extension (e.g. rename OGAsomething.dll to OGAsomething.dll.rename) (it also says to uncheck Hide Extensions for Known File Types) Is this ok? It did stop the warning whenever you start an Office 2003 program, but the star is still in the notification area. I have office 2003 + 2007. 4)Do I need Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system is i have Office 2003 +2007? 5)Whenever I start an Office 2003 app., then an Office 2007 app., the office 2007 app. always shows "Setup is loading Setup Files", then "Office 2007 is now configuring your software" (or something like that) and it takes long as. And vice versa, but instead it shows the Windows Installer dialogue for I sec., then disappears. But it take a long time to load the 2003 app. and usually you'll have to open it again. How come this is happening? 6)How can you change the icon for MOV files and RTF files? 7)Is there any way to remove these? (www.imagef1.net.nz) Thanks:thanks:thanks:thanks:thanks:thanks

2009-03-16 06:39:00 | 1. Dunno, never tried IE8 to find out 2. Hmm, With this ? (support.microsoft.com) Looks like this program is part of XP (it should be on the hdd) 3. Dont ask, you may not like the answers :p Read the rules 4. Why bother with 2003? Uninstall it. Isnt that pack for 2003, so it can open 2007 docs? 5. See 4 6. Find an icon, then change it. if it lets you change it 7. Probably not, unless you either uninstall Outlook, or find a reg hack to kill it

You won't need the compatibility pack at all. :) Plus, Firefox is better than IE8 and IE7. :p EDIT: It looks like you have the Office 2007 trial. In that case, either buy it, or live with the reconfiguration. |

2009-03-16 07:19:00 | IE8 is definitely better than IE7. Web Slices is quite nice. To get the default power schemes back just go to cmd>powercfg /RestoreDefaultPolicies To change the file icon for a particular file type: 1. Open up Folder Options again by clicking on My Computer. When it launches, click on the Tools menu bar entry and select Folder Options. 2. Inside Folder Options, click on the File Types tab to reveal the list of all of the different file extensions on your computer. 3. Browse through the list and select the extension for which you want to change the icon. 4. Once you have the entry selected, click the Advanced button. 5. On the Edit File Type screen, click the Change Icon button, as shown in Figure 5-2. 6. The Change Icon screen will show. Here, you will be shown various system icons from which you can choose. If you do not find any that you like, just click on the Browse button and select an icon that you downloaded on your computer. 7. Once you find the perfect icon, click OK. 8. Click OK again to save your changes. And uninstall 03. No use in having it. As for the search-you can't remove it, but you can remove the "Enable Instant Search" thing under it. Tools>Options>Other>Advanced Options. Untick "Show prompts to enable Instant Search" Ref:office.microsoft.com Blam

2009-03-17 01:52:00 | I prefer 7 to 8, actually, but despise them both. Firefox and/or Opera is the way to go. Might have been an idea to blur your peronal details out in the attached pic, Wilson from Massey who just ordered an Office trial. ;)
