574354 2007-07-30 19:59:00 For those that remember my BB problems (Xtra Adeventure 10G plan) when I tried wireless routers a while back - in those days I gave up after a while, and I accepted that :
a) I will have three to six disconnections every evening on BB
b) I can not run a wireless BB ever (for the wife's lappie)
c) The Xtra HelpDesk people are really clued up, telling me every time my troubles stem from virii and malware.
d) Requesting Telecom to change the DSlam in the exchange got me nowhere (refer to c)).

The One That Must Be Obeyed decided last night that she would like to get her lappie onto wireless BB, and although I gave her all the right reasons why I could not, it had no effect.

So, somewhere I have to try and find the energy to
a) Switch to XNet or some good provider
b) Hope like hell they will join me in the fight

I must admit - it would be nice not having the disconnections every night

I will keep you guys posted - and any suggestion to overcome the above problems are hugely appreciated, again.

XP, 1.8gHz, 80G HD, Nod32, Ad-aware, Spybot, etc.

It won't help with speed but they do have a real helpdesk.
David Cunliffe has joined you in the fight......

574356 2007-07-30 21:18:00 I fail to see how switching providers will enable you to get your wifes lappy onto bb ? drcspy (146)
574357 2007-07-30 22:05:00 Switching providers may help me get a better HelpDesk and may help me to get the DSlam changed, as another member on this forum reported a few months ago.

574358 2007-07-30 22:44:00 Just get your wife a T3G, or vodem! SolMiester (139)
574359 2007-07-30 22:59:00 I think her lappie's got a T3G, but using it would be a bit expensive ???

$50 for 1Gb, if your wife uses more than that, temper her online shopping habits!:D

574361 2007-07-30 23:13:00 yeah but that would mean I have to drop BB on the PC and it kind of defeats the purpose? Or, I can go to a cheap BB option and get her some sort of Vodem thingie (she's with Vodafone). Must be cheaper than what I currently pay.
