574085 2007-07-30 02:06:00 I didn't mean to stomp on you about the isolation transformer thing..am I forgiven? :( :xmouth:

I didn't have my medicine last night and I might have been harsh.

No...make that I WAS harsh...

Sorry

574088 2007-07-30 07:40:00 What insult, Joe? I love technical disagreements, as long as people don't behave as if personal insults are a substitute for discussion. I made a facetious remark, though it's absolutely true that our 50Hz mains causes 100 reversals/sec of the magnetic field in a transformer. A "reversal" is a "collapse", by any definition, surely. In theory I would agree with you.

But practically.....the reversal that you quote is a Controlled Reversal, which is re-reversed a fraction of a second later. So No deep "Sag"

A collapse of Power, total would, in some circumstances, cause that problem spike.

It is a long time since I did my Theory Exams, so if I am wrong....apologies. PJ
