573779 2007-07-30 05:44:00 Being that a lot of Mac users also know how to use Windows, we can also help with some Windows problems.:)

Now why didn't I think of that?

573782 2007-07-30 06:13:00 ...All I am really asking for, I guess, is for people to communicate the problem in a manner I can understand.

Now if we take this thread:-
pressf1.pcworld.co.nz

I find that I have a difficulty in communication here.

I ask a question and get an answer which makes no sense to me. The person who posted wants help. Fair enough.

Could you work out what is going on? And of course you know what "thing and it" means.

If I went to a Doctor and say, "I have a headache." I would be a little surprised if he/she removed my appendix.

I would be even more surprised if it worked. Sweep, how would splitting the forum help with the communication problems? Often if the poster could exactly define the problem it would be solved without asking here. We have to rely on ESP. Sometimes it's best to ignore the question as it is phrased by the poster and give an answer to the problem. ;)

There aren't enough threads each day to divide it into four. Division would slow people down. And people would still post difficult to understand descriptions of their problems. Often in the wrong division.

I'd still like a "File 13" or "Irrelevant" thread as a destination for postings which to "contribute" only insults to manufacturers or other members. They don't bother me, (although some have earned places on my Ignored list because I won't waste time on them) but this behaviour has caused some new members to give up on this forum.

Of course removing your appendix will fix a headache. Postoperative pains will make you forget the headache. :D Much as "formatting and reinstalling" will "fix" a misconfigured system. So would fixing the configuration. My favourite is "load the latest driver". Reloading the existing driver would fix many problems in exactly the same way.

Some people don't always see the obvious.

You are correct in that splitting the forum will not solve a communication problem as such . It would just save me time as far as I could deal with MY area(s) of expertise such as I have .

I do have a solution for tooth ache as well btw .

Take a mouthful of water and sit on the stove until it boils . :-)

I forgot about adding people to my ignore list . Maybe I should do that . No person here on that list at this time . I did not even ignore Pedalslammer . I am possibly on a list where I am ignored somewhere but this would never worry me as I would not know .

Just I spend some time here and I would like to try and help if I can . PressF1, earlier, had only one Forum . Then it was split into help and chat . So I thought that this may be a useful thing to do .

I guess I have to give up now and thanks for your helpful comments .

Wanders off, stage left, to my CP .

573785 2007-07-30 08:22:00 I don't understand why some people feel the need to ignore posters on here (or any other forum for that matter). If you get offended easily, maybe forums aren't for you. If someone makes you mad, you obviously are forgetting that what they are saying (typing) is their point of view, and at the end of the day, just words on a screen. Do they really affect your job, your wife, your bank balance? Unless you know them personally, the answer is no.
Turn the other cheek, roll with the punches, or if it gets too hot, get out of the kitchen

It's not an easy thing to do. It took me ages (when I was in chat) to figure out, and occassionally I still forget

Pretty sad, But it helps him keep his mind closed. Far easier to attribute your own ridicules views onto other peoples positions when you hide their reasoning from view.

What a charitable view you take, though it is difficult to express one self within the confines of the rules.

I would have thought that anyone who is intelligent enough shouldn't have a problem expressing themselves. :)
