| 574668 | 2007-08-01 03:52:00 | And it could have sections for plumbing supplies, collectibles cars, boats, houses . . . Then a bidding system, to make it exciting . As it gained popularity, extras could be added, like a chat forum, and even a computer problem forum . Bloody hell . This is a PC problem help forum, with a chat section . Graham, I like the Chat side . . . as you all to well know . . . where I can rant and write . . but especially write copiously . It comes to mind that we all get a little "edjumicated" from the vast variety of ideas, thoughts and even debates on (of all things . . gasp!) religion! I don't think it's earth shaking to have such posts go all over the place on the relativity map . . . and thanks for the patience of the mods and editors for letting things just generally roll . . . er . . . . until things get nasty . If there WAS to be a new venue (preferred to the word "split"), then I suggest that a trade-me, buy-me, sell-me type section might work . . but only locally . . . and that's a problem . F1 is so international that it's hard to get all excited from long distance over a really good deal when the market is not even in the same hemisphere . But . . . I will not, (even if I could), stand in the way if someone wants to try it . . . it will be good reading for me too . |

| 574669 | 2007-08-01 04:08:00 | So talk about having a buy/sell forum, Joe. I even suggested a few improvements to the proposal. Given time and effort it could look just like this site (trademe.co.nz) (which does have chat and computer sections). Then it could be sold to Fairfax. (Oops, it already belongs to Fairfax). Alternatively, this site could be what it is already, a computer problems forum with a chat section. |

This place is much more then a computer help forum, Its developed into a community of Kiwi's (with a few internationals) who not only help each others with advice and information but also take time to converse on an unlimited number of topics, The contributions are from all walks of life and viewpoints and every bit as valid as each other. Quite a few posters have met in real life, Indulge in real time chat via chatf1, Share pics via Joe's photo page, Its no great stretch of the imagination that the idea of openly trading with each other gets raised from time to time. There is plenty of pro's and cons, Just claiming its a computer problems forum is about as redundant as anyone can be and not even worth stating, Its quite obviously more then that. |

| 574671 | 2007-08-01 05:43:00 | Hey Metla, thanx for the accolade . . . and in private PMs I have sent to- and received things from a few here on F1, so the trade/sell/buy part works at least offsite . I like to think that everyone has something to say or show or relate in friendly ways . . even though we may sometimes have our feathers up and looking for a fight . I feel a part of the family, as I've been here for a while now and I've seen many come and go . The TRUE people here are the ones who read posts every day or have something to say very often . These people, including you (shocked?) are the ones I read faithfully, and as I am still learning things tech, I rally for and sometimes even defend mightily (got zinged for that by Jen I think once) when I feel the toes of MY FRIENDS are getting trod upon . The site is pretty good as it stands, (make that VERY good), and for that I side with a few here who may not be in the majority; but I say they all have valid points . I surely don't want to split hairs or friends, but there's always room in a family for new ideas, regrets and lessons learned . So far I haven't voted, and I don't think I shall . . . it might just be a wedge between people with whom I talk/post/chat and those who dislike me who then would use that friendship against me or them . Keep my beer cold . . I will be there someday and I expect to have it frosty and unsampled! |

This aint the first time i've had to weed out my 'junk pile' my poor cupboard of parts was so full the shelves had developed distinct bows from the weight lol !CPU around 800MHz to say 1.2 GB max with motherboard to suit (must be in good full working order) for a media centre | Myth (110) | ||
