574646 2007-07-31 12:57:00 I'm for the idea. Saves me some money selling my stuff. qazwsxokmijn (102)
574647 2007-07-31 18:08:00 I think it would be a good idea.
BUT
No commercial operators! They've ruined Trade Me.

574648 2007-07-31 19:28:00 If I recall, when Metla originally mooted an idea for a TradeF1 everyone said "yeah, we will be there and support it etc etc".
However once it was set up, membership wasnt that great, and after a while it just died.

I would like for a PF1 exclusive site/forum to be set up. If it were set up I will throw my name forward as a volunteer to moderate against spammers etc. (but only on a trade forum, not the main site). But first off, one needs the people to join, and participate

Incidentally, I was going to throw a post in here soon looking for second hand parts anyway :p :D

574649 2007-07-31 19:59:00 hm.......really ?......what were you after ?.......i've just had a clean out....admittedly the stuff i'm throwin out is mostly AT which I no longer feel is useful except as perhaps curiosity items.....and a few puter cases I no longer want as I've stripped them out. This aint the first time i've had to weed out my 'junk pile' my poor cupboard of parts was so full the shelves had developed distinct bows from the weight lol ! drcspy (146)
574650 2007-07-31 20:35:00 It doesn't need to be anything elaborate.

Something like a pinned topic where members can list buy or sell items. once the deal is completed the item could be removed.

574651 2007-07-31 21:28:00 Meh, I have a forum set up for this a few months ago, currently active. Currently it serves members that sell/buy/trade game accounts. If most of you are interested in it, I'm going to head towards this direction. Get members onto a trade forum is a pain in the ass, the possibility of interested buyers is 1 in 20 and sellers are around 1 in 5. msnforum (11610)
574652 2007-07-31 22:21:00 I have thought for a while that it would be great to have a forum here where users can sell stuff to each other. I think everyone here would greatly benefit from this, myself obviously included.

This will save all PF1 users Trade Me fees, as there are always people selling their computers, and always people buying them.

It would be a great way to help users to get a good computer for them (assuming second hand ones here), as our experts could help point people looking for a PC to a good match in the BSE (buy/sell/exchange) forum.

It would be a fair rule that those who run computer businesses, like myself, don't try to excessively peddle their products. I would love, however, to be able to offer everyone here the ex-lease computers I pick up for prices they could never get them on Trade Me for (though perhaps confining it to one thread).

Do you guys think this forum would be a good idea?

I think it's an outstanding idea!

Do youse guys deliver?

574653 2007-07-31 22:26:00 So why not limit it to users with more than 20 posts, thus weeding out spammers?
Or maybe limit it to users to have contributed at least X number of posts within X number of days / weeks.

Alternatively, we can have posts of the users rated based on their quality - "the karma system".

some member express concerns that we need a system to tell if a member's comment is trustworthy or not.

to that end, BC is going to experiment with a karma system.

the way it works is quite simple. the karma system is a member-to-member award system, you can award each post that you see a positive or a negative karma depending on your reaction on it. over time, each member will gain or lose karma points. we hope that will be a more accurate measure of a member's trustworthiness.

to award a karma, this is what you do. besides each post, you can see a karma icon: . clicking the icon will bring you a menu in which you can award the post either a positive or a negative karma. and that's is it!

each member can only give 25 karma awards each day. so use it wisely.

Having said so, I agree that when money issue starts to come in, things tend to get very messy and murky.

Cheers :)
