757259 2009-03-17 21:26:00 This question prolly isnt much use, but il ask anyway,

I want to set up and exchange server, i have my own domain, email is hosted elsewhere, (google mail) If i have a generic email such as mail@mydomain.com, could i use exchange server to distrubute the emails to the users here at home? I think it can be done, just not too sure

757260 2009-03-17 21:41:00 Sure can.

I do it here.
Our domain is hosted with OpenHost where I have set up a 'catch all' email address.
I then have the Exchange POP3 connector setup to download email from that email account. It then distributes the emails to the correct mailbox on our domain.
Just make sure that when you set up the POP3 account that you have it set to a Global Mailbox.

For sending I just use our ISPs SMTP server - smtp.xnet.co.nz
