758288 2009-03-21 06:28:00 I have a few scratched discs that I would like to fix up. I know some video stores do this, but I am wanting to do it myself.

Does anyone know of a good disc cleaner/resurfacer?
I used to have one I bought in town but it was hopeless, after being run through, the discs would not read easily, so that got thrown. I ended up using the formula from it and doing it by hand (which had better results)
Would prefer electric model

Serious, use small circular motions but do the whole optical disc. What you are trying to achieve is to remove the small scratches in a plastic layer. There is only one way and that is to sand them down real gently. Don't use any coarse grit. Brasso or even toothpaste is ideal. Remember the reflective surface is under a layer of plastic. If you still aren't convinced, try it on an old disk first.

By all means try Silvo but it may not work as it is a polish not a fine grit. Let us know how you get on.

758297 2009-03-22 17:20:00 I purchased a disk cleaner from the warehouse last year (as seen on tv). Worked semi-well. Fixed a couple of the disks but not the others. As for ease of use, all you needed to do was insert the disk, spray some of the spray on, and spin it for 30 secounds.

I think it cost me $25, but it might have come down by now.
