758111 2009-03-20 05:36:00 I have conneted my PC to my HDTV but there is no sound, My Ati Radeon HD 2400 does has in-built HDMI sound but I think the motherboard is only giving sound to my sound card so there is no sound coming to the TV how can I switch to use the graphics card? pcuser7895 (12979)
758112 2009-03-20 05:43:00 The graphics card most probably has an integrated audio controller, so its nothing to do with "switching" to the GFX card.

EDIT:Go to Control Panel>Sound>set SPDIF as default device

If may be something else, such as realtek digital output or RealTek HDMI

Try the different options

Also, in the bios, disable onboard sound and see if it works

758114 2009-03-20 06:25:00 Does the card have 5:1 audio on it, or is there a header on it?? For the sound?

If its got a header, the mobo HAS to have a SPDIF header to connect it to

You'll also need a HDMI cable if the TV has HDMI on it. To get sound (If you want to use the HDMI connection on the videocard).

758115 2009-03-20 06:32:00 it has my video cards as one of the devices, but the only default device option is "C media wave device" pcuser7895 (12979)

Do you mean the video or sound card, the sound card has got 5.1 channels and video has HDMI not sure how many channels or surround. both are connected through PCI(e?)

758117 2009-03-20 06:40:00 You 'll have to install the HDMI audio drivers in this case .

If you want to use HDMI (If the video and the TV have HDMI connections .

And the HDMI cable . Since HDMI also carries audio, unless the TV has a 3 . 5 mm plug for audio in on it .

Look in device manager for a high definition entry . (It may have a ? beside it)

If its there, double click on it, go to the driver tab / update driver, and see if windowsupdate can install something . Sometimes it will, sometimes it wont

I had the same prob . Until I installed the monitor drivers, thats what made the system pick up the HDMI drivers .

If it manages to install the drivers, it maybe called ATI function driver for HDI AUdio - ATI AA01, or similar

Some videocards with HDMI (have audio on them). Others have a header for SPDIF (the mobo HAS to have a SPDIF header on it for it to work)

Since HDMI carries sound and video, it has a separate driver (HDMI audio wont work with the soundcard drivers). Unless the TV / whatever has audio in on it, so you can plug it into line out on the computer

758119 2009-03-20 06:45:00 in device manager, my full name of the video card(ATi Radeon HD 2400PRO) is on the "display adapters" and ATi HDMI audio is in "sound, video and game controllers". pcuser7895 (12979)

It seems like there is already drivers for sound on the graphics card .
