| 576034 | 2007-08-05 01:36:00 | We bought a car the other week through Trade Me and wanted to pay by internet banking on the laptop from our Bank Direct Account using the seller's phone line. Thus I rang Bank Direct in advance and asked what the limits were. Answer was that because I am registered for Netcode the limit is $60,000 on one day. (The car was way less than this so no problems and it went through fine) This is a vast improvement on their previous system. A few years back we bought a house and I had to transfer $20,000 to our solicitor's trust account. As it was over the then limit I had to do it by fax. Trouble was they lost the fax so I had to fax a second time. Great. Except they found the missing fax the next day and did it a second time! Different banks will have different limits and rules. Just ring and ask them. Also remember that although to you it is a transfer between your accounts, to the banks it is a bill payment to another account - so use "bill payments" or "virtual cheques" rather than "transfer funds". |
