I have a good copy of WMP10 as an .exe file, and it's all intact, scanned with AVG...etc...etc... But when I go to INSTALL it, I get that nasty popup from Windows telling me that the copy I want to install is incompatible with my system...even though I am just trying to update TO v10. It then asks me if I want to update my current version of WMP to v11...and of course, I say no. It's a never-ending cycle of denial...and this is before I put all the updates into the new install too...but I DO have SP-2...so I should be able to upgrade to v10 at least...NOPE! Somehow the WGA is scanning me and saying that I haven't installed Uncle Bill's spyware yet in the form of WDRMs and it is trying to force me to get the newest phone-home v11. The one thing I haven't tried yet is a virtual installation...that may be next. |
