1436535 2017-06-18 07:57:00 I have my data files synced to Google Drive. In the event of a Ransom ware attack, would the files in Google drive be encrypted as well, or does Google have protection for this? I have the latest Malwarebytes running, but it will not be 100%. mzee (3324)
1436536 2017-06-18 08:22:00 Simple answer -Anything on your computer that is synced to google drive can be encrypted on their online storage.

The only real 100% way to not get files encrypted is to have the files on an external device NOT connected top your Computer, either by USB /LAN or online.

The best defense is not to get caught in the first place :)

Although, some cloud storage/sync allows you to rollback to the previous version, so you can at least recover the synced files .

1436538 2017-06-19 02:37:00 I have turned off the auto syncing, and will turn it on periodically when I am sure that the computer is clean. I also have backups to a USB hard drive which is normally unplugged. mzee (3324)
1436539 2017-06-19 04:58:00 Since turning off Google Drive my Windows 10 is much faster, and the Internet also faster. mzee (3324)
