1436225 2017-06-03 09:42:00 In my years with NZ PC World Forum I have noted that some members ( to my mind) perform outstanding Support Services more than the rest of us.

I should like to suggest an Honours Board where by some agreed nr of votes a member becomes "Gold Standard" or some other suitable term..
I would suggest a maximum of 2 members each calendar year be awarded this honour.

What do other members think?

1436226 2017-06-03 10:16:00 Older members will recall that in the heyday of PC World there used to be free gifts given away to those thought deserving on PF1, such as T shirts with PC World written across, various softwares, a multitool, even a Palm Pilot and lots of other goodies, like a free years subscription to the magazine, there were also competitions with good prizes to be won...............those were the days :) Terry Porritt (14)

I'm sure the current owners and management would be happy to resurrect such a mind set and generate goodwill towards them ...

But a good suggestion Neil, and one we could easily implement under our own steam without having to counter the sometimes capricious tactics of the Ozs. :)

One or two of the more helpful are not here now, Metla for instance.

1436229 2017-06-04 00:30:00 Yep as PC Tech says.. Some here with good intent will always be knowledgeable and experienced in PC Hardware/Software/Trouble shooting, etc. Because of their living might warrant it (e.g. PC tech, tutor, programmer, etc). hence will have a advanced - and current - skill set, or interest. I greatly appreciate others helping others, particularly in PC tech issues. I mean I could post a mass of PC hardware issues, but I think only select members will be skilled - and experienced to answer with deep insight. Possibly with actual examples.

But then some are here to "tell a story", perhaps to complain about a product/service, link to a interesting article, topic, video, etc or to simply ask and perhaps do that well - as evidenced by gathering member's interest, resulting in a lot of meaningful replies. Perhaps such members should be awarded too. Schools do that (part. primary) - Multi level cert's, prizes, so as to accommodate worthiness of most of their students/pupils I guess. Not necessarily just the best, or most helpful, insightful, etc.

The British monarch still has to approve them hence the Sirs and Dames..

1436233 2017-06-04 05:51:00 Elizabeth II is also the Queen of New Zealand, and approves the recommendations of the Government in that capacity. Richard (739)
1436234 2017-06-04 06:37:00 Elizabeth II is also the Queen of New Zealand, and approves the recommendations of the Government in that capacity.

Shouldn't that read: Elizabeth II is also the Queen of New Zealand, and just Rubber Stamps the recommendations of the Government in that capacity.
