| 1436903 | 2017-08-06 11:19:00 | It seems to go alright - 16 threads at nearly 100% utilisation, 3.15 GHz. That's for Vidcoder (basically Handbrake) and also for ReSpeedR. I haven't tried Premiere Pro CS6 yet I haven't tried any overclocking apart from boosting memory to 2.4 GHz. I think I would need a case fan to blow air onto the CPU cooler One disappointment is not being able to turn off the red and white LEDs under the memory and on the Wraith CPU cooler My HDD "cage" works well - a bit of felt on the floor of the rig with the 3.5" HDD lying on edge held down with a couple of cable ties |

| 1436907 | 2017-08-11 09:52:00 | I correct myself - the RGB under the memory can be turned off by installing AppCentre and then rgbFusion (Gigabyte site) The RGB on the Wraith cooler can be turned off the same way except that you also need to install the supplied cable linking the cooler to the MB. Without this link the default is a bright red ring around the top of the cooler powered by the fan power supply. I didn't install the link cable originally because I assumed the RGB default would be off The place where the RGB cable connects to the cooler is covered by a tiny cover which has a metal jumper perhaps linking the fan power to the RGB? If so, I could have turned off the RGB simply by pulling out the cover The RGB effects are quite good (controls over intensity, hue and 'breathing') and would look good in a black rig. In a white rig it's very garish and mega-ugly If only they could provide pastel colours - grey, pink, avocado, puce.... |

| 1436908 | 2017-08-18 03:19:00 | I'm impressed by the Silverstone case fan AP181. I think 180mm is the size sweet spot. 120mm can be a bit noisy and 240mm a bit big $33 incl GST at PBtech. But it doesn't come with a top grill or filter. I've got some filter material but nothing for a grill. Does anyone know what I could use to keep fingers out? |
