1436614 2017-06-25 03:03:00 I have had occasion recently to use Microsoft Office to edit a few jpegs from my scanner.

The program does not have the look and feel of a 'Windows" program.

Eg its got a black background and the Menus are all on the right, and there is no File Menu and No "About"

I always thought that Microsoft insisted on there standards before a company got access to the Windows applications language kits, so that all Windows Programs would have the sane look and feel and ease of use.

What do you think?

For starters, Microsoft Office is NOT the Microsoft Photos.

The Microsoft Photo is a stand alone App.

Office is word, excel, Outlook, Power Point etc. You're not thinking of Microsoft Picture Manager are you ? ( different again)

If you wanted Picture Manager back that's easy enough as well. how-to-install-and-get-microsoft-office-picture-manager-back-in-office-2013/ (www.askvg.com)

If you want to old style Photo Viewer as per W7, its simple. Download the following zip file, extract it, then double click - Agree to all warnings.

Restore_Photo_Viewer_Windows_10.zip (woshub.com)

Then you can either change the default Viewer, or right click a photo/Picture - Open With - Select Windows Photo Viewer.

The New Microsoft Photos has a LOT more options in its functions than the older version.

Re the About-- Top Right are 3 dots Under file information, it gives details of what ever you are viewing.

As Wainuitech says, you don't edit pics in Office.

Standards? MS? You jest surely........after all users are the beta testers....
Sane, hmm, probably not.

Hence the proliferation of things like Libre Office etc.

I find 3rd party photo editors better anyway, there's loads around free. Don't have to go to the extreme of Photoshop.

I use PhotoFiltre for instance.

No as they are not stored within the app but in the Pictures folder.
