Have to ask, why ?
There are hundreds of AV products out there. Best to stick with established, known products that have reputation
based on many years of use.

Ashampoo are hardly a AV software company. They are an anything software company.
Jack of all trades , as they say
It probably uses another AV companies engine to do all the work

"Ashampoo Anti-Virus 2015 relies on antivirus engines licensed from two competitors. You'd be better off going straight to the source, or to one of our Editors' Choice antivirus utilities."

1436249 2017-06-05 22:47:00 Haven't tried but wouldn't want to with what I've seen from Ashampoo's other software (super clunky and most of it seems to be borderline adware). Eset is the way to go. :2cents: wratterus (105)
1436250 2017-06-06 02:11:00 or Sophos Free Av , or Bitdefender Free (thats quite hard to get though)
The other usual popular Free AV's are now just adware/bloatware .

1436251 2017-06-06 03:54:00 I have been using Avira for some time, and quite happy with it. I received an email from them with some screen shots. Looks like AVG. mzee (3324)

have you ever tried to find & download , from bitdefender's website. :badpc:
Often the links to the free version go nowhere . Perhaps that has changed now but in the past it was often impossible to download from links on their site

your link .....
"The www.bitdefender.com page isn’t working
www.bitdefender.com redirected you too many times."

this one works

Agreed, it used to be impossible to access via the bitdefender site. Though I haven't look in a while, it was also impossible to get an offline installer - they only offered a stub installer :yuck:

I think that they were trying to limit their freebie version , possibly as thats not the way to make money . Better for them to offer only the paid version ? : most who download a freebie will never buy a paid version.
At one stage their freebie was a time limited version (from memory).
